About our Work
We have recently completed a pilot randomised control trial comparing fully corrective soft contact lenses with plain soft contact lenses in idiopathic infantile nystagmus syndrome.
The soft contact lenses are better tolerated than hard contact lenses, which have been commonly prescribed for nystagmus previously. In addition to improved optical correction compared to glasses, the soft contact lenses may dampen the oscillatory eye movement caused by the nystagmus.
This will be one of a few randomised controlled trials looking at a potential treatment for nystagmus.
