Retinopathy of Prematurity

Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) is a condition that affects a percentage of infants born more than 2 months early or with a low birth weight. Improvements in neonatal care means that premature babies today have a better chance of survival but it also means that there are more babies at risk of developing this sight-threatening condition, which requires prompt treatment, usually a form of laser treatment of the retina.
